Venue
Is there a hotel discount?
Yes, we have discounted room block at the Marriott Hotel. However, the block can be sold out, so reserve your room early.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
The Marriott parking garage is available to all guests and attendees. There is also public parking under the Provo City Center Temple at 100 South and 100 West and at Smith’s at Freedom Blvd. and 200 North. Also, there are UTA bus stops, a Frontrunner train station, and an Amtrak train station within walking distance of the hotel. See rideuta.com and amtrak.com, respectively, for schedules.
Where can I find parking?
We’re working on a map of the area around the Marriott Hotel with parking marked, which can be found here. Please keep in mind that LTUE is not responsible for ticketed or towed vehicles. Please be sure to read all signs carefully when parking.
Do I need a parking token to leave the hotel parking structure?
In the past, the hotel has not required a token to open the arm for the parking structure. (There’s always the possibility that could change, though.) If you would like to get a parking token, they are available at the hotel’s main desk.
Where are lost and found items?
During the symposium, lost and found items are kept at the registration desk. After clean up on Saturday night, any lost items that have not been claimed will be left with the hotel (not sure how long they keep them).
Attendees
What are your rules on school-age children?
We do not allow children between the ages of 18 months and 9 years old at LTUE. Children ages 10 to 13 must have a parent/guardian in attendance at LTUE. Attendees ages 14 and up may attend without a parent/guardian. For more details, please see our Child Policy.
What if I want to take my children to the banquet?
Rules for letting children into the event are outlined in the Child Policy.
Who counts as a “student”?
If you are currently attending a university or college, you are a student. If you are currently attending elementary school, middle school/junior high school, or high school, you are a student. If you attend an alternative school, charter school, or are home schooled, you are a student. In order to get the student price, please produce a current Student ID. If a student does not have ID, you may bring an alternative form of proof that you are a student. This may include a homeschool affidavit or online proof of enrollment.
What is the refund policy?
LTUE does not offer refunds. However, memberships are transferable, and you may give your membership to someone else. Please contact registration@ltue.net for more information.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, you do not need to print your ticket. We will have your badge at registration; we just need your name. We do recommend keeping the email with your ticket and confirmation just in case.
Can I update my registration information?
Yes, you may update your registration or change your badge information. You may do so on Eventbrite or by contacting registration@ltue.net.
Is my registration fee or membership transferable?
Yes; if you would like to transfer your membership, please make sure to update your badge and billing information by February 10th.
Is it OK if the name on my registration doesn’t match the person who attends?
No, each membership should have the name or moniker of the person attending. Those purchasing a student membership will need a student I.D. or other proof of attendance to pick up their badge.
Panelists and Presenters
How do I become a panelist?
When the Call for Panelists is ready, we will post a link to the Call through our various social media. There you can fill out a personal information form for our records, indicate interest in proposed panels for the coming year, and pitch presentation ideas. Please remember that filling out the Call does not guarantee that we will have room for you, as the number of applicants each year is much larger than our capacity. If you want to be notified that the Call is out, join our Facebook gro up or ask to be added to our email list.
When does the Call for Panelists go out?
Once we have sent out the Call for Panelists, we will announce it on our front page and various social media websites. We generally hope to have the Call out around August.
What do I do if I made a mistake on the Call for Panelists?
If you have a minor change to make (i.e. a schedule change, an updated bio), please send an email containing the information you need changed and the changes to our Call representative. If you have a larger change (i.e. forgot to fill out a section) please email the Call representative and request a new Call. If you have a large mistake on your Call, you will have to fill out the Call again.
Should I have gotten notified about panels yet?
All participants who have been invited to LTUE should be notified by the time the schedule is up on the website. If you have not been notified, you can email the Symposium Committee.
Why didn’t I get chosen to be on panels?
As our community grows, we have an ever-increasing number of well-qualified people who want to be on programming. This year, for example, we had over 300 people apply to present at LTUE, about twice as many as what even our extensive programming has opportunity for. A person wanting to be on programming needs to respond to the call sent out before the deadline in August. If the committee does not hear from an author, artist, creator, etc., during this call, then that person does not get included in the list for consideration that year. With the call responses in hand, the track heads vet respondents’ qualifications for specific panels and make assignments with a balance of viewpoints. Not everyone who applies can be assigned, and there is no guarantee that if you were a panelist in a previous year that you will be assigned for the up-coming symposium.
How do I contact Track Heads?
Initial contact should go through our contact form or the general committee e-mail address. Communications will be dispatched to individual track heads from there.
Vendors and Art Show
How can I sign up for a table in the vendor room?
See our application form here. Space is limited, so some applicants may not be accepted.
Can I have my art displayed in the art show?
Rules and an application form can be found on our art show page. All art must be family friendly.
When can I start setting up my vendor table or art?
An email will be sent to accepted vendors and artists with specifics.
Do you have advertising opportunities?
Yes! See our advertising page for program book ads, or contact us
at contact@ltue.net if you want to discuss other ideas.
