How Do I Become a Panelist?

The call for panelists and presentations for LTUE 42 (2024) is now closed.

If you want to be considered for future panels or presentations please go to https://sessions.ltue.net/ to create an account. Please fill in your biographical information.  Having an account on our registration server automatically includes you on our future mailing list when the call for panelists and presentations goes out.

If you already have an account on our registration server please make sure it is up to date. This helps us understand your expertise and interests.

When the call for the next symposium comes out, you can tell us which panels you would like to be on, or suggest/pitch your own presentations for LTUE.

Note: We want (strongly encourage) you to pitch your own presentations (if you have a ready-to-go presentation), or to pitch your own new presentation ideas if you don’t see “your” topic listed in the call.

When you Receive the Call

These links have also been posted on our various social media channels.

Important: Please understand that filling out the Call does not guarantee you will be selected as a panelist. We always get many more applicants each year than the number of hours we have for panels. If you aren’t selected immediately please try again.

Please join our Facebook group or ask to be added to our email list via our contact page to get the most up to date information.

When does the Call for Panelists and Presentations go out?

The Call is currently closed. The Call goes out around the end of July each year. We send out various social media notifications before the call opens, a specific email inviting you to answer the call (when the call opens) and additional notifications before closing the call.

What do I do if I made a mistake on the Call for Panelists?

We are working on fuctionality for you to be able to log back in and make changes as needed. If you pitch one of your own presentations and can’t change it, you can copy what you’ve entered, then delete the entry and then add it again. If you need to make changes and can’t, please contact Guest Services.

Should I have gotten notified about panels yet?

All participants who have been invited to LTUE should be notified by the time the schedule is up on the website. If you have not been notified, you can email the Symposium Committee.

Why didn’t I get chosen to be on panels?

As our community grows, we have an ever-increasing number of well-qualified people who want to be on programming. For 2020, for example, we had over 300 people apply to present at LTUE, about twice as many as what even our extensive programming has opportunity for. A person wanting to be on programming needs to respond to the call sent out before the deadline in August. If the committee does not hear from an author, artist, creator, etc., during this call, then that person does not get included in the list for consideration that year. With the call responses in hand, the track heads vet respondents’ qualifications for specific panels and make assignments with a balance of viewpoints. Not everyone who applies can be assigned, and there is no guarantee that if you were a panelist in a previous year that you will be assigned for the up-coming symposium.
