Animator, director, screenwriter, and producer. Ron is best known for writing and directing the Disney animated films The Great Mouse Detective, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Treasure Planet, The Princess and the Frog, and Moana.
Matt Dinniman

Matt Dinniman is a writer, artist, and musician (well, he’s a bass player) from Gig Harbor, WA. He is the author of several books, including the New York Times bestselling Dungeon Crawler Carl series.

Charlie N. Holmberg is a Wall Street Journal and Amazon Charts bestselling author of fantasy and romance fiction, including the Paper Magician series, the Spellbreaker series, and the Whimbrel House series.
Emily Goodwin

Emily is the Vice President of Public Affairs for Author Services, Inc. based in Los Angeles, California. She has been involved with book publishing since 2007, including the international Writers & Illustrators of the Future Contests. She is the producer for the Writers of the Future annual Achievement Awards as well as the online writing workshop.

Suzy Bills

Suzy is an editor, author, former faculty (editing and publishing at BYU), was a lead editor for the Joseph Smith Paper, and owned a writing and editing business since 2006, helping individuals and companies publish everything from books to dissertations, video scripts, technical manuals, and marketing materials. She loves teaching, coaching, helping authors capture their thoughts and fine-tuning their writing. Her Freelance Editor’s Handbook was published in 2021 by the University of California Press.

Esther Candari

Esther is primarily a figurative fine artist and painter, known for exploring multiracial identity, faith, and culture in her work, but she also ventures into illustration, notably creating art for Brandon Sanderson’s Isles of the Emberdark fantasy series. She’s a recognized figure in religious and contemporary art circles, exhibiting widely and serving in arts leadership roles, but her main focus is creating fine art.

“Scott” is the author of Ender’s Game, Ender’s Shadow, and Speaker for the Dead. His recent YA Pathfinder series Pathfinder, Ruins, Visitors; fantasy Mithermages series Lost Gate, Gate Thief, Gatefather, and the Side Step series Wakers, Reawakening take readers in new directions. He’s written contemporary fantasy Magic Street, Enchantment, Lost Boys; biblical novels Stone Tables, Sarah; the American frontier fantasy series The Tales of Alvin Maker; poetry An Open Book, and many plays and scripts.

Robert J Defendi

Robert is an author, writer for games, gamer and much more. As the publisher of Final Redoubt Press, he designed and released the critically acclaimed setting The Echoes of Heaven. He was featured in Writers of the Future XIX, and When Darkness Comes. He’s the author of the successful podcast audiobook Death by Cliché. He’s featured in Space Eldritch, Space Eldritch II, and Redneck Eldritch, and Actuator 3: Chaos Chronicles and the Curiosity Quills: Darkscapes anthology. Death by Cliché, his first published novel and Death by Cliché 2: The Wrath of Con is available now. It’s Bob Defendi when he writes comedy. It’s Robert J Defendi for all other writing. There is no period after the J to make things difficult for publishers.

M Todd Gallowglas

Michael Todd Gallowglas is a hybrid-author (mainstream & alternative publications), a storyteller, and educator. He has written over 20 books including novels, short story collections, poetry collections, and non-fiction books. He holds a BA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University, an MFA in Fiction from Sierra Nevada College, and an MFA in Poetry from the University of Nevada Reno, Tahoe. His traditional storytelling show at Renaissance Faires, Celtic Festivals, and geeky conventions has mesmerized audiences for over thirty years. he is an avid gamer, enjoys ballroom dancing (swing, blues, and tango are his favorites), and adores coffee, lots and lots of coffee.

Clint Johnson

Clint teaches creative writing and composition at Weber State. MFA in Fiction, professional member of SFWA and SCBWI. Credits include MG novel Green Dragon Codex (Wizards of the Coast) and multiple short works and open educational texts on writing. Six years of journalism for ESPN’s TrueHoop Utah Jazz affiliate, Salt City Hoops, technical writing for Atlantic Marketing, coordinating and teaching in a public charter author residency program. Interests include narrative and the brain, psycholinguistics of story, game and video game studies, screenwriting and storytelling.

Tricia Levenseller

Tricia is the #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of eight YA romantasies, including the Daughter of the Pirate King duology and The Shadows between Us. Her books have been translated into twenty languages and counting. Tricia grew up in Oregon, where she spent her childhood climbing trees and playing make believe. She now lives in Utah with her bossy dog, Rosy, where she writes full time. Peter Orullian

Unfortunately Peter Orullian – one of our great Spotlight Guests – was told by his doctor on Monday evening (February 9th) that he has pneumonia and is under orders to not travel or do presentations. We will miss him and all the wisdom and experience he would bring.

Her book, Structuring Life to Support Creativity, is a resource filled with concepts and tools to help you make more space in your life for the creative work you want to do. She lives in Orem with her husband, three cats, three young adults, and some very demanding scrub jays who insist that her real job is to put peanuts on the deck rail.
