FOUR PRINCIPLES OF ENGAGING WRITING

Day Class

This workshop offers practical insights and proven techniques to elevate your writing. Gallowglas’s 4 Principles go beyond style, tricks, and secrets; rather, they provide writers with tools and perspectives to craft compelling stories that leave a lasting impact. What’s more, the 4 Principles offer writers a vocabulary to explore and discuss the works of other writers – not only to understand what is and isn’t working, but also to discern WHY. The first hour will cover the foundation of The 4 Principles. In the second hour, we’ll apply The 4 Principles to combat. In the 3rd hour, we’ll apply The 4 Principles to magic systems. In the fourth hour, we’ll apply The 4 Principles to world-building. Whether you’re a seasoned author or just starting out, The 4 Principles of Engaging Writing will open up new ways to think about and execute your writing. Also, each participant will receive a copy of Gallowglas’s book, The 4 Principles of Engaging Writing.

UNLEASHING YOUR HIDDEN EXTROVERT FOR FUN AND PROFIT

Evening Class
In today’s oversaturation of virtual white noise, it’s not enough to write great books. Between maintaining an online presence, readings, speaking at conferences, running writing classes, and just talking to people out in the real world, writers must become part carnival barker, used-car dealer, and performance artist… all without coming off like any of the above. For decades, Michael Todd Gallowglas has excelled as a professional storyteller, ballroom dance instructor, game seller, speaker, and educator. He’s of that rare breed of writers who is also an extrovert. Really, he’s the kind of extrovert that makes other extroverts say, “Dude, slow down.” In this workshop, he will share decades of knowledge that you can use during panels, presentations, readings, and conversations with strangers to seem like a socially savvy extrovert and convert people into readers and fans.
